US confiscates $200K in crypto tied to Hamas

The Justice Department has successfully confiscated $201,400 worth of cryptocurrency which Hamas intended to use for funding their terrorist operations.

The Justice Department captured cash worth $201,400 belonging to Hamas once it linked it to fundraising wallets that have processed more than $1.5 million in digital currencies since October 2024.

Sue J. Bai from the National Security Division declared that as directed by Attorney General Pam Bondi the Justice Department remains dedicated to dismantling Hamas through every available resource.

U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr. declared that this office would conduct thorough investigations to locate Hamas funding money at all costs regardless of currency type.

The FBI managed this investigation by following the paths which criminals used to launder money across various cryptocurrency addresses along with crypto exchange platforms.

The FBI fights terrorism by using its multiple tools including cryptocurrency seizure coupled with disruption of Hamas funding paths according to FBI Counterterrorism Division Assistant Director David J. Scott.

The authorities managed to confiscate cryptocurrency wallets valued at $89,900 as well as three accounts containing $111,500 which belonged to Palestinians residing in Turkey and different areas worldwide.

Counterterrorism Division together with Cyber Division and Albuquerque Field Office of the FBI managed the investigation.
