Tinubu too busy to meddle in EFCC affairs – Olukoyede

Ola Olukoyede who serves as Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recently declared President Bola Tinubu lacks responsibility to silence political opponents through the agency.
Olukoyede appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday to dismiss the claims which aim to divert President Tinubu from his duties.
People of Nigeria should recognize the leadership quality of our present president with sincerity. His statements were not coming from his current role in the organization.
Through daily interactions with President Muhammadu Buhari all government officials have noticed his demanding inquiries about what work has been done and how much economic recovery has occurred.
Tinubu keeps out of EFCC operations because he believes that distracting the government started from distracting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. His staunch supporters understand that Tinubu wishes to hear only performance reports from them.

The agency records indicate that the EFCC does not target critics of the administration disproportionately according to Olukoyede.
The data we have collected from our investigations together with high-profile case prosecutions should reveal more members from the ruling party although some of our cases include their constituents. Mr. Olukoyede expressed his belief that the agency should receive fair judgment.
The EFCC leadership maintains that political background serves no protection when it comes to law enforcement procedures.
Mr. Olukoyede indicated that among people whom the EFCC charged for investigation “you will observe important ruling party members” during his statement.
“So, for us to close our eyes to people who perhaps are not members of the ruling political party will be unfair to us and will be an injustice.”
On internal accountability, Olukoyede revealed that 27 EFCC personnel have been dismissed for misconduct since he took office. He said maintaining integrity within the agency is essential to its credibility.
