Russian drones spark fires in Ukraine’s Poltava region

A Russian drone strike has caused damage to storage facilities and an administrative building in the central Poltava region of Ukraine.

On Friday, Regional Governor Volodymyr Kohut informed national television that the facilities, which belong to Ukraine’s gas producer, housed spare parts essential for the repair of wells and processing facilities.
The Ukrainian air force reported that it successfully intercepted 89 out of 163 drones launched overnight, noting that 51 drones failed to reach their intended targets, likely due to electronic warfare countermeasures.
According to the Ukrainian general staff, the Russian military has focused its attacks on civilian infrastructure and the administrative buildings of oil and gas companies in Poltava.

“The Russian aggressor cynically continues to lie about its aspirations for peace, deliberately attacking civilian objects and endangering civilians,” it said.
Local authorities reported that the attack ignited fires covering over 2,500 square meters and caused damage to the business’s transformer.
The regional governor indicated that the damage to power lines resulted in a temporary power outage affecting several districts in Poltava.
According to the state emergency services, in the southern region of Odesa, drones injured one individual and sparked fires in private homes.
