Tinubu joins world leaders to congratulate Pope Leo XIV

President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Holiness Leo XIV on his election as the Bishop of Rome and head of the Roman Catholic Church.
The Nigerian leader conveyed his message of goodwill on Thursday through his media aide, Bayo Onanuga.

Tinubu also praised the conclave for selecting American Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost as the 267th Bishop of Rome.

The President expressed his heartfelt joy in celebrating with the leadership and faithful of the Catholic Church in Nigeria on the historic election of the new Pontiff, whose message of faith and hope is already echoing worldwide, offering a scriptural assurance of a more peaceful world.

The President affirms the longstanding and valued relationship between Nigeria and the Holy See, recognizing the fruitful collaboration with the Catholic Church in areas such as peacebuilding, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and, more recently, the advancement of technology to enhance human development.
