He passed away just one day shy of his 86th birthday, after battling an age-related illness. His passing just a day before his birthday signifies the close of a remarkable chapter in Nigerian business history.
Born on April 9, 1939, in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State, Dozie exhibited exceptional intellect from a young age. He began his education at Our Lady’s School in Emekuku. He later pursued higher studies at the prestigious London School of Economics, where he obtained a degree in Economics and a master’s degree in Administrative Science.
HOW HE FOUNDED DIAMOND BANK
In 1990, Pascal Dozie founded Diamond Bank, a financial institution that quickly gained recognition for its innovative approach to banking in Nigeria.

Under his guidance, the bank grew into one of the nation’s most respected financial entities before eventually merging with Access Bank in a landmark deal. After stepping down, he passed the baton to his son, Uzoma Dozie, thereby preserving the family’s legacy in the banking sector.
