BREAKING: CNG Tanker explosion in Abuja

Many people lost their lives after a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) tanker exploded near Karu Bridge in Abuja during the evening of Wednesday.

We obtained a video that displayed someone urgently crying for assistance as they remarked that the burning motorists were trapped inside the exploded CNG tanker.

The truck experienced control failure in the area between Kugbo and Nyanya on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway near Karu Bridge.

The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department officially approved the details showing that the blast happened when the watch struck 7:14 pm on Wednesday.

FEMD released a statement through its Head of Public Affairs Nkechi Isa which pointed out that the CNG truck driver experienced control loss before crashing into other vehicles which ultimately caused an explosion.

The disaster took place at the Karu bridge connecting Kugbo and Nyanya in the FCT.

A Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) truck together with several other vehicles participated in the collision that occurred at 7.14 this evening.

FEMA’s forecasting response and mitigation team leader Mr Mark Nyam stated that the incident started when the CNG truck driver lost control while at the bridge and hit other vehicles until an explosion happened.

The team included search and rescue teams coming from the Federal Emergency Management Day and Federal Fire Service and FCT Fire Service and Nigeria Police Force and National Emergency Management Agency which were present on the ground for casualty removal operations.
