The governor presented his decision to form an alliance with PDP presidential aspirant Atiku before their transition to APC according to his interview on ARISE TV.

The proposed opposition coalition headed by Atiku did not convince Okowa because he believed it needed clearer structure and faster execution.

According to him there is no clear path for this coalition to materialize nor can a short timeline establish enough strength among coalition members.

Okowa chose President Tinubu as his preferred candidate by backing “a full eight-year presidential term.”

According to Okowa the future presidential term of 2027 for Tinubu will respect Southern Nigeria’s designated time in office and strengthen national leadership.

The stability of Nigeria requires President Tinubu to dedicate eight full years to lead the country according to Okowa. The succession of the presidency will shift back toward the North after having two terms under Tinubu. I think such actions represent the proper course of action.”

Okowa revealed that Delta’s political leadership saw poor prospects for PDP success in 2027 based on the insider party problems including leadership disputes and division along with inadequate election plans.

Okowa explained that his switch to APC enabled Delta State to connect with “the corridors of power in Abuja” since he saw this move as essential for obtaining federal investment opportunities and development prospects.

Okowa explained to former President of the Senate Bukola Saraki that he lacked moral authority to speak because of his party switch. Saraki lacks moral authority to comment since he has changed parties frequently.
