Governor Fubara denies allegations linking him to militant groups

Governor Fubara urged security agencies to investigate and act against those spreading misinformation.

Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara denied allegations linking him to militant groups. He dismissed recent social media posts and videos as false attempts to incite tension.

In a statement, his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, condemned the circulation of fabricated videos. These videos allegedly showed explosions at oil and gas facilities in the state.

The statement clarified that affected communities refuted these claims. It assured that all critical infrastructure remains intact and fully operational.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no connection to any militant group. He does not consider such associations and has no reason to support criminal elements that threaten peace, security, or the economy,” the statement read.

Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining peace in Rivers State. He emphasized that governance and development thrive in a stable environment.

He also cautioned against exploiting the state’s political situation for personal gain.

Fubara warned bloggers and social media influencers against spreading false information. He stated that their actions could escalate tensions and disrupt stability.

He urged security agencies to investigate and take steps to curb misinformation.
