Google Messages rolls out nudity warning feature

The nudity detection functionality of Google Messages began its distribution to users during the last months of 2021 after its initial public announcement.
Two main reactions activate based on AI system detection of nude images: the system blurs those photos after which it prompts warnings during attempts at opening, sending or sharing them. This solution provides access to help resources for users and their children. The device performs complete monitoring to protect privacy for any images and data.
Google enables sensitive content warnings automatically for supervised accounts and signed-in unsupervised teenagers according to the company Users aged 13 to 17 who supervise their children through Family Link have the ability to control the setting while children 17 or older only adjust notification settings in Google Messages. By default the feature remains disabled for all accounts except those falling within supervised and unsupervised teenager user categories.
Users enabled for sensitive content warnings view images through blurred content before a speed bump notification appears to block senders and present linked material about detrimental nude image effects. The system displays two options to the user after the warning: “No, don’t view” for decline and “Yes, view” for accept. The system provides matching options to users who try to transmit image files. The platform does not stop children from sending nudes but provides them with warnings instead.
