Francis Ngannou linked to fatal motorcycle crash in Cameroon

Multiple newspapers in Cameroon reported that former UFC heavyweight champion and boxing star Francis Ngannou was “involved in a fatal motorbike accident” during Sunday April 27, 2025. The information came from Camer.be, Lebledparle and ActuCameroun.

Two media outlets declared Ngannou aged 38 got into an accident while driving his motorcycle in Yaounde’s Omnisports area with a girl who was 17 years old.

The local papers confirmed the fatal accident victim as Ntsama Brigitte Manuella. Multiple news sources show Ntsama Brigitte Manuella suffered critical arm and leg wounds during the accident.

The sources reveal Ngannou took the victim directly to hospital care at Yaounde General Hospital until she passed away.
Sources indicate that Ngannou feels deep sorrow after the fatal tragedy occurred. At present it is reported that he bore the full cost of her hospital bills.
The Cameroonian government will investigate the moment of vehicle impact that happened during the Easter weekend.

The Cameroon-Online website released its first report about this incident where different stories questioned the events. Different reports indicated Francis Ngannou drove a vehicle which hit the victim using a motorbike or the victim walked while Ngannou rode the motorbike during the collision.

About one month before the incident Ngannou published images showing him riding a motorcycle in Cameroons rural regions. The source does not clarify whether the fatal accident vehicle was the same off-road motorcycle.
Ngannou faces this news shortly after experiencing major personal hardship since his 15-month-old son Kobe suddenly died during April of the past year.

Ngannou last competed in October of last year, where he knocked out Renan Ferreira to win the PFL heavyweight title upon his return to MMA. Before that, he had transitioned to boxing after leaving the UFC as a free agent, participating in high-profile fights against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia, both of which he lost.
