Dele Momodu: Wike drove Peter Obi out of PDP

Chief Dele Momodu who publishes Ovation Magazine and leads the PDP as its chieftain alleges that Nyesom Wike the FCT Minister prevented Peter Obi from remaining in the PDP.
Peter Obi left the PDP for the Labour Party (LP) before the 2023 general election where he secured the LP’s presidential candidacy.
During his Arise Television interview on Wednesday Momodu revealed that Minister Nyesom Wike caused Peter Obi to leave the PDP.
According to him Atiku proposed before the 2023 elections that the PDP should pass political power to Southeast Nigeria instead of keeping it limited to specific regions.
Wike missed potential opportunities from Atiku when he discouraged the Southeastern candidate by separating from his region.
Wike took himself out of the candidate race through his statement that he did not belong to the Igbo ethnic group. The previous Rivers State Governor confessed that he did not support any political agenda endorsed by Igbo communities.
The PDP planned to give its presidential nomination to Southeast candidates and Wike supposedly manipulated Obi out of the party according to Momodu to secure the ticket for himself.

The people whom Wike had previously criticized for their north-south complaints served as catalysts for the committee through our party primary system according to Momodu. I was able to purchase the application form because of this reason. At that moment Atiku informed them that southeast power concessions would win his backing yet he refused to endorse the current few-zone diplomatic system. That was why I acquired the presidential ticket form. He demanded southeast leaders to relinquish their power to the southeastern part of the nation. Due to his own self-disqualification statement about being neither Igbo nor interested in Igbo matters Wike managed to force Peter Obi from the party. So, the coast was clear for Nyesom Wike.”
The PDP chieftain further explained that the opposition party did not have a zoning problem until Wike and his allies within the party started using it to push a north-south agenda for the party’s presidential ticket.
