Defection: Peter Obi’s aides in talks to join APC – Presidency

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, has claimed that several associates of Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, are in talks to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during an interview on TVC on Monday, May 6, Bwala revealed that one of Obi’s top aides has already defected to the APC, while another is currently engaged in discussions with party leadership. He also mentioned that a member of Obi’s media team has shown interest in switching allegiance to the ruling party.

Governors are joining our party independently, but what’s more significant is that key figures from the last presidential election are also coming in.

For example, one of Peter Obi’s handlers is already with us, and another is currently in discussions. Even one of his media spokesmen is considering it, Bwala said

Bwala stated that their interest is not motivated by financial rewards, but by their confidence in the current administration’s goals and intentions.

No one is giving them money. They’re coming because, while we’re not perfect, they see that our heart is in the right place, our head is clear, and we are working to build a national consensus, he said.
