Armed Men Abduct FUBK Student, Kill One in Kebbi

Around 3:00 AM on Tuesday, five armed men attacked students of Federal University Birnin Kebbi at an off-campus hostel. The incident occurred at Istijaba Villa in Unguwar Jeji. At the time, the students were sleeping outside due to the heat.

Initially, the armed men demanded money. When the students explained they had none, the gunmen became violent and assaulted them. Meanwhile, a neighbor, Malam Siddi Hussaini, heard the noise and approached to check. He had been tending to his cattle nearby. Tragically, the attackers shot him dead.

Afterward, the armed men kidnapped Augustine Madubiya, a 400-level Economics student. Fortunately, Mr. Collaneous Steven, a 200-level Business Administration student, managed to escape during the chaos.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Muhammad Zaiyan Umar visited the scene. He was accompanied by the Divisional Police Officer of Kalgo and officials from the Department of State Services. There, he addressed the students, reassuring them of the university’s commitment to their safety.
