The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) strongly denounced the Uromi Edo State mob violence which demanded both justice and accountability for the afflicted victims.
AYCF leader Yerima Shetima helped the forum release an official statement which condemned the Thursday mass killing of 16 innocent northern Nigeria travelers at Udune Efandion community in Uromi, Edo State.
The Hausa hunters traveling to Kano for Sallah celebrations were on their way from Port Harcourt when local elements accused them without reason and began attacking them.
The intercession took place at approximately 1:30 p.m. when the Edo State Security Corps members together with local vigilantes stopped the group.

The people enraged by unfounded kidnapping rumors performed savage acts that resulted in lighting a vehicle on fire which burned some victims inside.
When victims were rescued from the fire through wheelbarrows the witnesses described terrifying scenes of the burning massacre.
The AYCF condemned the mob aggression then demanded authorities to instantly conduct investigations into this horrible crime.
All authorities must take immediate strong action to arrest and prosecute the individuals who triggered and took part in this disastrous event. The justice system needs to deliver its duties to both victims and their mourning families so faith in justice remains strong.
The situation requires calm behavior which is why the AYCF implored Hausa relatives to remain obedient while staying alert. People must refuse to respond to anger through retaliation since they must pursue justice through proper legal channels.
Through this forum the organization promised to bring assistance to those who suffered from the attack as well as to guarantee the incident would not occur again.
AYCF extended its heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and urged relevant authorities to act swiftly in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
“We must work together to build a society where dialogue and understanding prevail over violence and ignorance.”
The AYCF reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, justice, and unity among all Nigerians, regardless of ethnic or regional differences.
