The victims revealed they had been lured with false promises of legitimate employment, only to be coerced into prostitution. They shared distressing accounts of sexual exploitation, physical abuse, and emotional trauma inflicted by their traffickers in both countries.

Dabiri-Erewa assured the returnees of NiDCOM’s continued support in facilitating their reintegration into society. She pledged the Commission’s assistance in providing necessary logistics to reunite them with their families and affirmed collaboration with state governors to ensure their proper rehabilitation.

She also emphasized the urgent need for a nationwide crackdown on human traffickers. Advocating for the legal prosecution and public exposure of offenders, she called for stronger efforts to combat the growing menace of modern-day slavery.
