Victor Osimhen gifts Remo Stars N10m cash for NPFL title triumph

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has gifted Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Remo Stars ₦10 million in celebration of their remarkable 2024/25 title triumph.

Currently on loan at Galatasaray, Osimhen reportedly split the ₦10 million donation between the players and the technical crew, with ₦5 million going to each group. He made the announcement during a personal video call to the team.

Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede confirmed the contribution in an interview with Punch Sports Extra.

Osimhen’s generous gesture comes in recognition of Remo Stars’ historic achievement—clinching their first-ever NPFL title following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.

With three games still remaining in the season, Remo Stars secured the championship by reaching 68 points, a full 10 points ahead of second-placed Rivers United. The title-winning goal came in the 84th minute, courtesy of Olamilekan Adedayo, during their home match in Ikenne.

This victory marks Remo Stars as the first privately-owned club to win the NPFL since Julius Berger’s triumph in 2000, and the first team from Southwest Nigeria to lift the trophy in 25 years.
