Threads is now on threads.com with new web features

When Meta launched its Twitter replacement Threads the company received criticism for its failure to obtain the threads.com address which resulted in the website launch at threads.net. The Threads dot com domain served as an ownership asset for a messaging app startup at the time which refused to change its operational name.
Meta later acquired both Shopify and the highly desired threads.com domain name although the purchase amount remained undisclosed. Meta is finally launching threads.com for its website while implementing essential capabilities to Threads web app.

This update introduced an independent field for posting with which users can browse their threads while creating new content. The update enables scrolling between custom feeds as a single column configuration (just like mobile Threads) with added access to saved posts through a menu shortcut. Previous users could only view saved posts on web through adding it as a pinned column.

As part of its user acquisition strategy Meta is increasing its efforts to pull away customers from X directly. The company performs tests on a new tool that enables users to upload their X follow lists to discover matching Threads accounts. The new beta version interface appears to provide a somewhat complicated experience based on the current in-app description from Meta. The process of data retrieval from X requires an estimated three days according to the system thus making it a complex procedure. This feature will help people locate familiar accounts during their Threads experience while letting Meta observe their platform usage patterns.
