Police Extradite Killaboi from Qatar 18 Months After Alleged Murder of Girlfriend

Benjamin Best Nnanyereugo, widely known as Killaboi, who has been on the run since 2023 for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Miss Augusta Onuwabhagbe, has been extradited to Nigeria from Doha, Qatar.
The Nigeria Police Force confirmed his return in a statement released on Saturday by its Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, via X (formerly Twitter).

According to Adejobi, Killaboi arrived in Nigeria in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025, following a coordinated effort involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja, and Qatari judicial authorities.
The statement also revealed that the extradition process was set in motion after the family of the deceased filed a petition through their legal team on September 29, 2024.

WHAT REALLY TRANSPIRED
According to the police, Killaboi allegedly murdered Onuwabhagbe on July 13, 2023, at his residence at 24A Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos. The victim was a first-class student at Lead City University in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The statement read,
Investigations revealed that the suspect, Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, murdered Miss Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan, at his residence located at No. 24A Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos, on 13th July 2023
The statement revealed that after committing the crime, the suspect fled the country and later released a video online in which he appeared to confess to the act—an action authorities described as an attempt to mislead the investigation.

The police revealed that they had been tracking the suspect’s movements since his escape from Nigeria. Killaboi was arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on October 20, 2023, under the false identity of “Kanu Princeton Samuel.” However, he escaped during a prison break on November 26, 2023.

Further intelligence indicated that the fugitive traveled across several regions, including West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East, using forged identities.
He eventually settled in Doha, Qatar, where he was arrested and extradited on January 24, 2025, under the alias “Toure Abdoulaye.” He had used a fake Guinean passport to secure employment and avoid detection.
