WAEC revokes licenses of 574 schools for exam malpractice

The West African Examination Council in Nigeria revoked 574 school establishments after discovering examination cheating in those institutions.
Dr Amos Dangut who leads the national WAEC office made this announcement to journalists at the Lagos headquarters during a Thursday interview.
Dr Dangut stated that WAEC submitted these schools to receive official sanctions from the Federal Government through their collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
The status of WAEC examination centres will be revoked from schools that have committed examination misconduct.
We have provided the government with 574 educational institutions that had their examination status removed this academic period according to Dr Dangut. The new procedure will be used by every examining organization for future assessments.

WAEC has discontinued its examination center status with these educational institutions thus the organization will refrain from conducting exams at such locations.
Before the 2025 WASSCE commencement scheduled from April 24 to June 20 this year Dangut informed that 1,973,253 candidates enrolled in 23,554 schools for the examination. The number of registered candidates grew to 1,973,253 students as compared to the previous year which totaled 1,814,626.
The number of males enrolled amounts to 979228 individuals yet females total 994025 people.
As Dangut explained WAEC uses technology to introduce their first Computer-Based WASSCE (CB-WASSCE) which is accessible to school candidates.
The examination administrator stated candidates will get different test questions to prevent dishonest activities.
