Davido explains reason for naming fifth album “5ive”

“It’s not really deep. I didn’t want to continue the trend with ‘A good time, A better time etc’… It was just like “it’s your fifth album, let’s call it 5ive”

Davido is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated fifth studio album. In a recent Twitch stream hosted by alternative music star Cruel Santino, he explained the meaning behind the album title, ‘5ive.’ He shared that the name simply reflects that this is his fifth LP.
After dropping the Time Trilogy—which includes A Good Time, A Better Time, and Timeless—he felt it was time for a new chapter. While the title does not carry a deep symbolic meaning, he hinted that researching the number five could offer more insight.
To build excitement for 5ive, Davido recently released Be There Still, an uptempo Amapiano-infused track that blends pidgin and English. Released on March 14, the song reaffirms his status as a global superstar. Fans have also enjoyed earlier singles like Awuke featuring Jamaican sensation YG Marley and Funds featuring Chike and OdumoduBlvck.
The album is set to drop on April 18, and anticipation is high. Davido also teased a collaboration with Omah Lay, who described their song as a perfect partnership.
So far, 2025 has been a remarkable year for the Afrobeats star. He secured his fifth Grammy nomination for Best African Song Performance with Chris Brown’s Sensational. He also earned five nominations at the 17th Headies Awards, including Artist of the Year.
In a heartfelt social media post, Davido described 5ive as an album straight from the heart. With his track record of hit songs and global impact, fans can expect another masterpiece from the Afrobeats giant.
